I've used every agenda that I pictured up above and there have been some I've liked much better than others but it all comes down to what you think you would like or need.
one// Emily Ley's Simplified Planner: This planner is broken down by hours in the day, along with a to do list section and a few other small sections such as what's for a dinner. If you click on the link you can see page examples. FYI, this planner is pretty big, about two inches thick and is heavy. If you're looking for something to carry around this may not be the best bet. This is an excellent choice if you're trying to juggle your family's busy schedule. There's also a weekly version available!
two// Lilly Pulitzer agenda: It's an agenda classic for a reason. It's a basic planner just made better and more colorful. It includes a sticker sheet, a pocket for invitations or notes, and an elastic band to hold it all together. This is the planner I chose for the upcoming year and if you're reading this I'm probably sitting on my front porch eagerly awaiting for my FedEx delivery!
three// Kate Spade New York planner (sold out, similar): This is my current planner and like the Lilly agenda it's a basic planner, just not as colorful on the inside. If you want something that is fun and colorful but more professional looking KSNY is a good pick.
four// Russel+Hazel SmartDate system: An updated version of the Filofax planners. You can get all sorts of inserts in a variety of colorful binders. I loved it because it was undated but it was one of those planners that lists the day in hours instead of a empty space. I ended up hating this agenda because I had to keep flipping through pages for all the day's information. However if you really desire something that can be customized this should be your first look.
five// Whitney English's The Day Designer: This is almost identical to Simplified Planner, just meant for "the creative entrepreneur." It had the day broken down by hours, had a to do list area, and spaces for money spent that day. While I described the Simplified Planner for a family's schedule, The Day Designer I think would work better for those in business.
One thing I didn't know is how quickly some of these agendas sell out. If you're interested in the Emily Ley Simplified Planner, it goes on sale Sept.3 and will sell out quickly. Whitney English's Day Designers also fly out the door. When Kate Spade released her new line of agendas last year, two of four designs were sold out in two weeks. If you find an agenda you like, be sure to snap it up.
